SF 67 – Long Term Homeowner Tax Exemption-Revisions

We Oppose This Bill.

Summary: AN ACT relating to taxation; amending qualifications for the tax exemption for long-term homeowners; repealing the sunset date for the exemption; specifying applicability; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: Property taxes fund our schools, our community colleges, our senior centers and many more local services. WYWF knows the critical role property taxes play in Wyoming, and recognizes that many of the services funded by property taxes are especially important to women and girls. Therefore, WYWF supports property tax bills which provide relief to those most in need in our community while also having the smallest impact on resources important to women and girls. The fiscal note on this bill is indeterminable for 2027 and, in 2028, is estimated to come at the cost $19.8M to the School Fundation Program, and $11,700,000 to local services.
