HB 98 – Property Tax Exemption for Long-Term Homeowners-Extension

We Oppose This Bill.

Summary: AN ACT relating to taxation; repealing the sunset date (currently July 2025) of the property tax exemption for long-term homeowners; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: Property taxes fund Wyoming schools, community colleges, senior centers and many more local services. Property taxes play a critical role across the state.
WYWF supports property tax bills which provide relief to those most in need in our community while also having the smallest impact on resources important to women and girls. This bill removes the sunset date of the 2024 bill and is estimated would reduce the School Foundation Program fund by $19.8M and reduce local community funding by $11.7M in 2028.
