HB 36 – Hathaway Scholarship – Amendments

We Support This Bill.

Summary: AN ACT relating to the Hathaway scholarship program; clarifying that the definition of "certificate" includes trade certificate programs; requiring students to work or attend graduate school in Wyoming for a specified time in order to receive a Hathaway scholarship; requiring rulemaking; specifying applicability; and providing for effective dates.
Why It Matters: Access to post-secondary educational opportunities lead to higher wages and greater hireability. This bill expands the Hathaway Scholarship to include certificate programs available through the community college system and the university, including a number that largely impact women such as public health and early childhood. If passed, this bill would provide more women the opportunity to further their education at little to no expense.
