HB 178 – Work Allowance for Voting

We Support This Bill.

Summary: AN ACT relating to elections; specifying when an employee is entitled to take time off of work to vote in an election; increasing the amount of time that an employee is entitled to take off of work to vote; making a conforming amendment; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: Women's participation in choosing our elected officials is a right. This bill extends the time a person can take off from work to vote from one hour to two hours. This can be especially beneficial for moms who are often juggling children, work, and their constitutional right to vote.
