FAILED: SF 62 – Legislator health care-2.
We Support This Bill.
Summary: AN ACT relating to state employees and officials group insurance; providing for enrollment by legislators and their dependents in the state employees and officials group insurance plan; providing a definition; granting rulemaking authority; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: Just like Wyoming citizens, Legislators should have access to quality health care with their employment. Since our legislature is a part-time citizen legislature, many legislators must work outside of their role as a lawmaker. Women are more likely to be working jobs that do not offer paid time off, health insurance, and retirement. Providing health insurance for legislators is one step towards closing the representation gap of women in politics.
