HB 179 – Medical care for Wyoming communities.
We Support This Bill.
Summary: AN ACT relating to medical care; modifying Wyoming medical education provisions; requiring increased emphasis in higher education medical programs on health care in rural settings in Wyoming; providing for reports and legislative oversight; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: This bill requires the UW Board of Trustees, in partnership with the State, to assess and report the geographical needs of medical services and maximize students that are trained/educated in professional health services. Access to healthcare in rural areas is increasingly difficult, and investing in efforts to place more providers in rural Wyoming could help address this need.
