HB 151 – Property tax exemption- child care facilities.

We Support This Bill.

Summary: AN ACT relating to taxation and revenue; providing a property tax exemption for property that is used for a child care facility; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: Child care is expensive to provide and receive. This bill would exempt government entities and non-profit organizations that provide child care from property taxes. Relief from taxes could help keep costs to a minimum so facilities can pay their workers more and parents can better afford care for their children. As most childcare workers are women and there are childcare staffing shortages are sweeping our state, this bill offers a small solution that could lead to affordability.
