HB 109 – Wyoming works for tomorrow.
We Support This Bill.
Summary: AN ACT relating to higher education scholarships and grant programs; modifying the award of Wyoming's tomorrow scholarships to include a preference for students enrolled in credential programs approved by the Wyoming community college commission under the Wyoming works program and students enrolled in teacher preparation courses; modifying the calculation of the average market value of the Wyoming's tomorrow scholarship endowment fund as specified; transferring funds; appropriating funds upon receipt of matching private funds as specified; and providing for an effective date.
Why It Matters: We know that with more education, women's wages increase and their chances of reaching self-sufficiency are greater. This bill adds a couple of preferences for recipients of the Wyoming's Tomorrow Scholarship, including one for students in credential programs and another for students in teacher preparation programs. With teaching-specific training and scholarships to complete education, Wyoming women may be able to better attain economic self-sufficiency.
