Resources for Advisors and Clients

Meet the Wyoming Women’s Foundation

Are your clients looking for ways to give back to the community and get measurable results? Consider referring them to the Wyoming Women’s Foundation.

Reasons to refer your clients to the Wyoming Women’s Foundation:

Addressing social problems at their root. The women’s foundation might appeal to a client who wants to strategically solve or prevent social problems rather than simply alleviate them. By creating lifelong economic self-sufficiency and systemic change, the women's foundation is working to build a society based on fairness, equity and full participation.

Choice and objectivity. By directing your client to the women's foundation, you avoid having to recommend a specific nonprofit. The role of the women's foundation is to help your client pool her money into an endowment that will be a permanent, reliable source of grants to carefully screened, high impact local nonprofits that help women and girls and that meet your client's philanthropic interests.

Continuity and legacy. Perhaps your client wants to create a lasting legacy in her community — but is uncertain which nonprofits will still exist when she dies. She is unresolved about which charities to include in her will. As a permanent, endowed institution, the women's foundation may be the solution. At your client's death, the women's foundation will leverage her funds through our endowment to support effective organizations that reflect the spirit and intent of her gift.

Tax advantages. By contributing to the women's foundation, your client may receive the maximum tax deductions for income, gift and estate tax purposes.

Ability to accept complex gifts. The women's foundation's relationship with the Wyoming Community Foundation affords your client access to a wealth of experience and expertise in handling complex gifts. The women's foundation is able to accept non-cash gifts, such as gifts of appreciated stock or property. The women's foundation also offers charitable gift annuities. These options augment your toolkit and facilitate your tax-smart planning. They can also simplify your work. For instance, rather than separately gifting stock to ten different charities, your client can gift all of the stock to the women's foundation and have confidence her donation will be used for maximum long-term impact.

Expertise. The women's foundation is your local expert on the most pressing community needs for women and girls. Your client can impact a wide variety of social issues affecting women and girls. Your client provides the inspired idea; we provide the know-how to make it happen. We look forward to helping you develop a plan to meet your client's philanthropic goals.

With a grant from the Women's Foundation, Healthmap/El Puente, a medical interpretation service for the Latino community serving women and children was able to establish a social enterprise called Teton Gourmet Tamales to create a sustainable source of revenue to support the interpretation services.

This is an investment in a project combining a non-profit mission with for-profit earning power — that's your donation to the Women's Foundation at work.
